Neymar apologises after training ground clash with Santos youngster Robinho Jr

Neymar has issued a public apology after admitting he reacted poorly during a training ground incident involving Santos team-mate Robinho Jr. The Brazilian forward acknowledged he “crossed the line” following reports that he struck the teenager during a session at the club’s training facility.

The altercation reportedly occurred after the 18-year-old dribbled past Neymar, prompting an emotional response from the 34-year-old. Santos FC launched an internal review into the matter but later confirmed that the situation had been resolved, describing it as settled between the players.

Speaking publicly, Neymar accepted responsibility for his actions, admitting he lost his composure in the moment. He stressed that disagreements can happen in football but conceded his reaction went too far, adding that he holds great affection for the young forward.

The Brazil international, who is his country’s all-time leading scorer, demonstrated reconciliation during Santos’ 1-1 draw with Recoleta in the Copa Sudamericana. After scoring, Neymar celebrated by embracing Robinho Jr on the sidelines, signaling that tensions had eased.

Robinho Jr, son of former Brazil international Robinho, confirmed that Neymar apologised immediately after the incident and several times thereafter. Although disappointed by the situation, he emphasised his admiration for Neymar and said the matter had been resolved privately.

The teenager also addressed public reaction, noting that some reports exaggerated the situation. He reiterated that there is no lingering conflict, describing their relationship as positive and respectful moving forward.
