As news filtered in about the sacking of the erstwhile coach of Sporting Lagos FC, Paul Offor, and subsequent replacement with the league Enigma'' coach Abdullahi Biffo, what the fans of the Noisy Lagosians will be expecting is a change of fortune for the better.

However, the fans may have to wait longer as the Tech Boys under the tutelage of Coach Abdullahi Biffo will begin his reign as the new head coach of Sporting Lagos with a tough challenge against Katsina United FC, a side he has once coached knowing fully well that they have been quite formidable in their home matches.

The Tech Boys will have to face the Changi Boys at the famous Muhammad Dikko Stadium in Katsina.

The management of Sporting Lagos FC will be banking on Biffo’s attacking and possession-based football, which saw him secure continental football for Kwara United with a 3rd-place finish in 2021.

He’s also a six-time winner of the State FA Cup, most recently, twice with Katsina United in 2018 and 2019, and with Kwara United in 2021.

His experience as a manager has also seen him coach Abia Warriors and Niger Tornadoes in the NPFL.

Biffo has led two top-flight promotions, winning the NNL with Niger Tornadoes and Giwa FC in the process. He was also the first-ever coach of FC Dender — today known as Remo Stars.

He spent the last two years training coaches and developing youth in football academies in the United States.

Upon joining Sporting Lagos, Biffo said: “I’m very proud to be the head coach at this great Club.

“I’ve been following Sporting Lagos for a while, I used to attend the games at Teslim Balogun Stadium, and I love everything the Club is doing.

“I didn’t think I would ever return to coaching in Nigeria, but this passion the owner of the Club has shown is very convincing.

“It is obvious that this is a long-term project with big plans, and I’m happy to be a part of it.

“The Club has really quality players, some of whom I’ve worked with before, and I’m looking forward to continuing the work of making this a Club Lagos is proud of.

“I can’t wait to be in front of the fans I’ve heard so much about and make them proud.”

Godwin Enakhena, chairman of Sporting Lagos, said: “Biffo brings a wealth of experience to Sporting Lagos, and we’re happy to round up the season with him.

“We will keep playing the attacking brand of football Lagos is proud of, and we’re excited about what the future holds for Sporting.”

Head to head Starting from 2023, Katsina United and Sporting Lagos FC have only had one match which ended in favor of the Tech Boys.
