Hammola FC will head into the 2026 Nationwide League One (NLO) season with a renewed sense of purpose, as the club begins life under a new technical direction at the Oduduwa Stadium centre in Ile-Ife.
The Ido-Osun-based side, popularly known as the “Lee Bombers,” are entering a transitional phase following the appointment of Head Coach Ibraheem Mutiulahi Okikiola. The tactician, who recently arrived from Ejigbo City FC, replaces Mudathir Adekunle and is expected to inject fresh ideas into the squad.
Since taking over, Okikiola has wasted little time stamping his authority, overseeing a significant squad and tactical overhaul during the off-season. His approach, built around discipline, structure, and youth integration, reflects a long-term vision aimed at turning Hammola FC into genuine promotion contenders.
Despite the rebuild, expectations remain high. The coach has made it clear that ambition remains central to the club’s objectives, insisting his side is fully prepared for the task ahead.
“We are ready for the season. We achieved it last year, we can do it again,” he stated confidently.
Hammola FC will compete in an eight-team group, with all fixtures scheduled to take place at the Ile-Ife centre—an arrangement that promises intense, back-to-back contests among familiar opponents.
Their campaign begins with a high-stakes clash against Àṣẹ Ridyem FC, a fixture that has developed into a closely fought rivalry. The Lee Bombers will draw confidence from their 2-1 victory over the same opponents during the 2025 season, as they look to set the tone early.
The road ahead, however, offers no easy fixtures. Encounters against AAYK FC, Karamba FC, Fehinty FC, Ilé Ogbó United FC, Telu FC, and relegated Nigeria National League side Ìgbàjọ United FC will test the squad’s depth and resilience.
Much of the optimism surrounding Hammola FC stems from their impressive outing last season. After dominating the Ile Ogbó centre, they advanced to the playoffs in Sagamu, where they delivered notable performances against sides like Karim Adeyemi FC and Ekiti United FC.
Now, with a blend of emerging talents and a redefined tactical identity, Hammola FC appear poised to mount another serious challenge. The coming weeks will reveal whether the Lee Bombers can translate promise into performance and take the next decisive step toward promotion.
The upcoming matches at the Oduduwa Stadium will serve as the ultimate proving ground for Okikiola's new tactical framework. As the Lee Bombers prepare to face a challenging group of rivals, the cohesion of the revamped squad will be vital to their success. Ultimately, the fans in Ido-Osun are hopeful that this new era will finally lead the club to the prestigious Nigeria National League.
