As the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League mid-season break draws to a close, Nasarawa United, nicknamed the ‘Solid Miners,’ are poised to launch a ferocious second-half campaign.
After officially resuming from the Yuletide break on January 3, 2026, the Lafia-based club is primed to reignite their title chase and reclaim a top spot in the league standings.
With ambitions for continental glory, the club’s management, led by Mr. Solomon Babanjah, has given the Technical Crew, headed by Mangut Mbwas, the green light to reshuffle and strengthen the squad with imminent high-profile signings to enhance the team’s defense, midfield, and attacking options.
Coach Mbwas revealed that fans should expect significant tactical shifts as the team recalibrates lineups for maximum impact in the second and final stage of the league campaign.
The Plateau State-born tactician noted that the short festive break was used to regroup and refocus the squad, adding: “The team is engaging in high-intensity training sessions, fuelled by an unquenchable thirst for victory this half of the season to achieve its mandate.”
Assuring supporters of the Solid Miners’ determination to win their first elite domestic league title and secure the elusive continental slot, Coach Mbwas appealed for the sustained support of all stakeholders, especially as the team begins their title push with two consecutive home games: first against Kano Pillars on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, and then Niger Tornadoes of Minna on Sunday, January 16, both at the Lafia City Stadium.
The Solid Miners currently sit in fourth position, with 32 points from 19 games, trailing table-topping Rivers United by five points, Abia Warriors with 33 points, and Ikorodu City, also with 32 points.
Wins in these two home games could see the Lafia side climb further up the table before traveling to Umuahia, Abia State, to face Abia Warriors on match-day 22, Wednesday, January 21, and returning home to host nine-time league champions Enyimba FC on match-day 23, Sunday, January 25, 2026.
