Nasarawa United climbed back to the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League table following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Shooting Stars SC of Ibadan in a rescheduled Match Day 16 fixture at Lafia City Stadium.
The decisive moment came from defensive midfielder Moyi Hassan, who was introduced in the 34th minute for the injured Chidera Nduka and scored the match-winning goal in the 66th minute. His powerful close-range strike beat Shooting Stars goalkeeper God’sGift Elkanah and secured all three points for the Solid Miners.
The win propelled Nasarawa United to 30 points, two ahead of second-placed Ikorodu City FC of Lagos, and strengthened their claim at the top of the league standings. The Solid Miners now turn their attention to their next encounter against neighboring Plateau United on Match Day 17 in Jos.
Head Coach Abubakar Arikya praised the team’s performance, emphasizing their deserving victory while acknowledging the challenge posed by their opponents.
