League leaders Nasarawa United have received a significant morale boost ahead of their Match Day 9 clash with Ikorodu City FC.
As the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season heats up, table-toppers Nasarawa United have received a massive boost ahead of their tricky Match Day 9 fixture against the resilient Ikorodu City FC on Sunday.
The Solid Miners, who have enjoyed a remarkable run since the start of the campaign, received strong backing as the club’s Chairman presented the official 2025/26 season jerseys to the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, at his office in Lafia.
Deputy Governor Akabe expressed delight at the gesture and praised the team’s outstanding performance this season, noting that their position atop the table after eight games is proof of their hard work and the government’s unwavering support.
He commended the club’s management, technical crew, and all stakeholders for their collective efforts in driving success. Among the items presented were the club’s home, away, and alternate jerseys for the new season.
Meanwhile, Chairman Solomon Babanjah lauded board member and Welfare Officer Usman Ibn Umar for donating sneakers to every member of the team — including players, coaches, management staff, and backroom personnel. Babanjah said the footwear would enhance the team’s comfort and image while emphasizing that the club welcomes sponsorships and partnerships to ease the financial burden on the government.
Ahead of the team’s journey to Lagos, Babanjah also donated new travel kits to the squad, adding a sense of pride and unity to their away preparations.
Team Manager Musa Adamu and Technical Adviser Mangut Mbwas had earlier supported the team with training kits as part of their personal contributions to the club’s growth.
Currently sitting atop the NPFL standings with 19 points from eight matches, Nasarawa United are confident as they prepare to face 8th-placed Ikorodu City FC, who have 11 points, at the Mobolaji Olufunsho Johnson Arena (formerly Onikan Stadium) on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at 4 p.m.
Despite the Solid Miners’ strong form, Ikorodu City coach Bright Ozadegbe remains optimistic about his team’s chances.
“I am sure of victory over Nasarawa United — they are no strangers to us,” he declared confidently.
