Nasarawa United FC Drops to Second After 1–0 Defeat to Warri Wolves

Posted : 01 December 2025

Nasarawa United FC, the Solid Miners, had an evening to forget after losing 1–0 to hosts Warri Wolves in Ozoro, Delta State, on Match Day 15 of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

Othuke Egbo scored the solitary goal in the 7th minute of the first half, and the home side jealously defended their lead to secure all three points.

Sunday's result temporarily altered Nasarawa United's top-of-the-table status, dropping them to second place behind Ikorodu City on goal difference, though both teams remain on 27 points. Warri Wolves moved up to sixth position with 22 points.

The Solid Miners will return to Lafia to host 10th-placed Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan on Sunday, 7th December 2025, at Lafia City Stadium at 4 p.m.

Nasarawa United coach Mangut Mbwas expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance despite the defeat.

"I am not disappointed with today's result, even though our hosts capitalized on an early mistake to take the lead and defended resolutely to secure maximum points. However, we played well, missed several goalscoring opportunities, and were just unlucky," Mbwas said.

"The league is still a marathon. We will recover quickly from today's defeat and continue fighting until the end of the season to achieve our target."
