The Solid Miners continued their determined push for a continental spot, remaining unbeaten in four consecutive games after a 1-1 draw against hosts Wikki Tourists FC at the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi.
New signing Chimezie Victor gave Nasarawa United the lead in the 28th minute, silencing the home fans, before Jonathan Mairiga equalized for the ‘Big Elephants’ just seven minutes later. The first half ended with both sides tied at 1-1.
Nine minutes into the second half, Wikki Tourists came close to taking the lead as Ibrahim Shuaibu struck the upright with a powerful penalty kick. Subsequent efforts from both teams failed to change the scoreline, and the high-stakes encounter, witnessed by the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Kwanta Yakubu, and other state officials, concluded in a 1-1 draw.
With this crucial result, Nasarawa United have narrowed the gap to just one point behind NPFL leaders Rivers United, who have 41 points but have played fewer matches. Wikki Tourists, meanwhile, are 13th on the league table with 28 points from 24 games.
The Solid Miners will return to Lafia to host Bayelsa United in Matchday 25 on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the Lafia City Stadium.
Assistant Coach Stephen Moga expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance:
"We are thoroughly pleased with the manner in which our players displayed resilience and tactical maturity, securing a hard-earned point against a formidable regional rival," he said.
"Although our aim was to secure maximum points, our performance remains commendable. Going four games unbeaten is no easy feat, and I strongly believe this result will bolster our determination and reinforce our aspirations to mount a serious challenge for both the NPFL title and continental qualification."
