It will be a match with a difference in the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 35, as Nasarawa United FC will play its first home match away from their traditional home turf, Lafia Township Stadium, in a duel with relegation-fighting Heartland FC of Owerri.
It will be recalled that the management of the NPFL has exiled the Solid Miners to Pantami Stadium in Minna as a punishment for the unruly behavior of their fans.
The Lafia-based team was also fined N6 million by the NPFL for failing to provide sufficient protection during their match against Plateau United on NPFL Matchday 33.
The Solid Miners’ exile to Pantami Stadium in Gombe means that they will play their last home games of the season there, with the first being against the Naze Millionaires from Owerri.
However, despite the ban, Nasarawa United head coach Salisu Yusuf has remained adamant that nothing will go wrong with his team, thanks to good tactics.
Buoyed by picking up a vital point away against Bendel Insurance FC in Benin during NPFL Match Day 34, Salisu said his team would be ready for any uncertainty.
“We are ready for any eventuality. The players are physically and mentally prepared to face Heartland.
“It is true that we are not playing at home because of the stadium ban, but we will overcome this temporary setback,” he said.
However, the opposing coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, will be hoping for a reprieve to further push his team out of the relegation zone, as he plays his host away from their comfort zone.
