Nasarawa Amazons FC opened the new year in dominant fashion, claiming a hard-fought away victory at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne during Matchday 5 of the 2025/2026 NWFL season.
After a draw against Abia Angels in the previous fixture, the Amazons arrived in Ikenne with renewed determination and a clear focus on protecting their unbeaten streak and advancing toward the Super Six.
The decisive moment came early in the match. In the 10th minute, Ayatsea Hembafan unleashed a powerful shot from the flank that beat Remo Stars Ladies’ goalkeeper Obidima Nkiruka, giving Nasarawa Amazons a 1-0 lead that proved to be the game’s only goal.
The remainder of the contest was fiercely contested. Nasarawa Amazons displayed discipline and resilience, maintaining their slender advantage until the final whistle to secure all three points on the road. The second half remained entertaining, with both teams creating chances, though neither side could find the back of the net again.
Coach Christopher Danjuma praised both the opposition and his team’s performance. “The coach of Remo Stars Ladies is a highly respected colleague who knows how to develop players. We knew Remo would be a tough test. We came prepared, played our game, and by God’s grace, we got the victory. It was a good match, and we thank God for it,” he said.
He added, “Since our last loss here, we have grown into a strong attacking side and have not lost any game in regular time, except the penalty shootout defeat in the President Federation Cup final. Our focus is clear: qualify for the Super Six first, then we take it from there.”
Nasarawa Amazons FC will return home to face Osun Babes at the Lafia City Stadium in Matchday 6 of the 2025/2026 NWFL Premiership.
