Nasarawa Amazons Storm Port Harcourt with Title Ambition for NWFL Super Six

Nasarawa Amazons have arrived in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, ahead of the 2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Super Six tournament, with renewed determination to challenge for the league title.

The Lafia-based club touched down in Port Harcourt on Thursday afternoon aboard a flight from Abuja, bringing along players, coaches, support staff, and club officials for the season-ending championship scheduled to run from June 5 to June 14.

The successful airlift of the team was facilitated by the Nasarawa State Government, a gesture that has further strengthened confidence within the camp ahead of the crucial competition.

Speaking upon the team's arrival, the Chairperson of the club, Hajiya Husaina Suleiman Nagogo, expressed appreciation to Governor Abdullahi Sule for providing the necessary support that ensured the contingent travelled comfortably to the tournament venue.

She also commended the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Kwanta Yakubu, the Permanent Secretary, Stephen Iliya Sasetu, as well as the management and directors of the ministry for their continuous commitment to the growth and success of the club.

Nasarawa Amazons secured their place in the Super Six after finishing second in Group B during the regular season and will now face five of the country's best women's teams in the battle for the prestigious league title.

With morale high and preparations concluded, the Amazons are optimistic about their chances of lifting the trophy and bringing glory to Nasarawa State at the end of the competition.

The combination of seamless logistical preparation and strong institutional backing positions the club uniquely for a strong campaign. As the tournament commences in Rivers State, all eyes will be on the Lafia-based side to see if they can convert this collective motivation into a historic championship victory.
