Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. The Amazons commanded a 3-1 triumph in the opening match of the 2023/24 Nigeria Women's Premier Football League at the Aguiyi Ironsi Barracks Football Field, Abuja.

Jafaru, part of the state's delegation cheering the team to victory, donated the sum of Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000.00) as a morale booster. Additionally, the Ministry's Permanent Secretary, Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi, contributed One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00) to support the impressive display by the ladies.

The Amazons also received support from Nasarawa State Football Association's Chairman, Salisu Galadima (Basira), who contributed Three Hundred Thousand Naira (N300,000.00), with One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00) per goal scored. The Chairperson of the Club and Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Women's Premier Football League Board, Hajiya Hussaina Suleiman Nagogo, rewarded the triumphant ladies with One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00).

The charged atmosphere saw the two-time Nigeria Women's elite league winners smiling home with a total sum of Seven Hundred Thousand Naira (N700,000.00) from the benevolence of the quartet.

Goals from Ojiyovwi Kesiena and a brace from Ayatsea Hembafan ensured that the Amazons kickstarted the new campaign on an excellent note.

Nasarawa Amazons FC, in Group "A" of the Abridged League, will next host Heartland Queens FC of Owerri on Wednesday, 22nd November 2023, at the rebranded Lafia City Stadium, by 4 pm.
