8 teams from Abia and Imo State will slug it out against each other on Monday in a battle to claim a sum of one million Naira winning prize at the maiden edition of the Kanu Nwankwo U-19 Inter-State Football tournament.

The organisers of the event, along with former Super Eagles forward and Sporting Director of Enyimba Football Club of Aba, Ifeanyi Ekweme, said the Kanu Nwankwo U-19 Inter-State tournament would produce budding stars who could become world-beaters.

The brain behind the tournament, Ekweme, explained that the top 8 teams had been carefully selected from two states, Abia and Imo, to jostle for the coveted prize money, while consolation prizes would also be available.

According to a former Sporting Director of Heartland Football Club, "All is now set for the maiden edition of the Kanu Nwankwo U-19 Inter-State Football tournament.

"The competition will be between two states: Abia and Imo, with 8 teams competing for the prize money of #1M.

"The competition will commence on Monday, May 6th, and end on Sunday, May 19th, 2024.

"The venues are Abia Poly School Field and Enyimba International Stadium, with special recognition to His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti OFR, Executive Governor of Abia State."

"That is not all; we are going to have our football legends live at the stadium with the Governor.

"They are: Augustine Eguavoen, Seyi Olofinjana, Victor Ikpeba, Tijani Babaginda, Uche Okechukwu, Ifeanyi Udeze, Finidi George, Samson Siasia, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, and a host of other ex-Internationals. The January Nwankwo U-19 Inter-State tournament is proudly powered by Ifeanyi Ekwueme, Sporting Director, Enyimba Football Club of Aba, and supported by Emex Sports and Boutique, the Kanu Heart Foundation, Tico Sports Wears, Select, and Enyimba Football Club," concluded the former Polonial Warsaw.
