Mykhailo Mudryk Cleared to Return as Chelsea Resolve Doping Case

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has been cleared to resume his playing career after the Football Association confirmed the resolution of his anti-doping case. The Ukraine international is eligible to return to competitive action immediately, ending an absence that has kept him off the pitch since November 2024.

Mudryk was provisionally suspended after an adverse analytical finding for the banned substance meldonium and was later handed a four-year ban by the FA. He challenged the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport, and the appeal concluded with an agreement between the player, the FA and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

 Under the settlement, Mudryk accepted responsibility for breaching anti-doping regulations, with the suspension reduced to the period he had already served, allowing him to return immediately. A revision to WADA's guidance on meldonium levels played a significant role in the outcome.

In a statement, Mudryk described the suspension as the most difficult period of his professional career and expressed his gratitude for being able to return to football. He reiterated that he had never knowingly or intentionally taken a prohibited substance and thanked his family, legal team, supporters and everyone who stood by him throughout the process.

Chelsea also welcomed the resolution, confirming they are eager to help the 25-year-old regain full fitness and reintegrate into the first-team squad. The club announced that Mudryk will join its pre-season tour as he begins preparing for a return to competitive football after nearly two years away from match action.

The Ukrainian winger joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 and has made 73 appearances for the Blues. With his disciplinary case now behind him, Mudryk will be aiming to rebuild his career and compete for a place in Chelsea's squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
