Musa inspires Kano Pillars as Enyimba slump deep into danger zone

Posted : 23 March 2026

Kano Pillars delivered a commanding and confidence-boosting 2-0 victory over Enyimba International FC, deepening the struggles of the nine-time champions in a crucial Match Day 31 clash of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

From the blast of the whistle at the Sani Abacha Stadium, the hosts showed urgency and intent, pressing high and unsettling an Enyimba side that looked short of ideas and composure.

The breakthrough came early, with Chidozie Okorie finding the net in the 11th minute after a well-worked attacking move that exposed Enyimba’s defensive frailties. The early goal set the tone for a dominant first-half display by the Kano-based side.

Just when Enyimba seemed to be regaining some balance, veteran forward Ahmed Musa struck on the stroke of halftime, doubling the advantage with a composed finish that sent the home crowd into celebration and left the visitors with a mountain to climb.

Despite flashes of attacking promise from Enyimba in the second half, Kano Pillars remained organized and disciplined at the back, effectively neutralizing threats and maintaining control of the game.

Their defensive solidity, combined with clinical finishing, proved decisive in securing all three points.

The result marks a significant step forward for Kano Pillars in their fight to avoid relegation, as they climb out of the danger zone with renewed belief and momentum.

Speaking after the game, Head Coach Muhammad Babaganaru praised his team’s collective effort, highlighting their discipline, improved defensive structure, and hunger to win.

He stressed the importance of building on the victory, particularly in upcoming fixtures away from home.

For Enyimba, however, the defeat paints a worrying picture. Head Coach Emmanuel Deutsch admitted his side fell below expectations, pointing to costly lapses and an inability to manage key moments as major setbacks.

With back-to-back disappointing results, the People’s Elephant now find themselves in a precarious position, hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone.

While Deutsch remains hopeful of a turnaround, time is fast running out for the Aba giants to rediscover their form and salvage their season.

As the NPFL season edges closer to its climax, Kano Pillars appear to be gathering momentum at the right time while Enyimba must urgently regroup or risk an unthinkable slide.

In summary, Kano Pillars utilized their home advantage and clinical finishing to secure a vital win that distances them from the bottom of the table. Conversely, Enyimba's defensive lapses have left the historic club facing a genuine threat of relegation as the season nears its end. The contrasting fortunes of these two giants underscore the high stakes remaining in the final weeks of the NPFL campaign.
