Morocco’s women’s national team will face Venezuela on December 1 before taking on France four days later as the Atlas Lionesses continue preparations for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) confirmed the fixtures on October 14, with both matches forming part of the team’s international preparation programme.
The encounter against France will take place at the Stade Auguste-Bonal in Sochaux on December 5, with kick-off scheduled for 9:10 p.m. local time. The Moroccan federation has yet to announce the venue and kick-off time for the Venezuela fixture.
The two friendlies will give Morocco an opportunity to assess its squad, test different tactical approaches and improve team coordination ahead of a demanding international calendar. The matches will also provide valuable experience against opponents from different footballing backgrounds.
Morocco have already secured qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup through their participation in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which they hosted. The tournament will take place in Brazil from June 24 to July 25, 2027. The World Cup draw is scheduled for December 11 in Rio de Janeiro.
The December programme will also give newly appointed head coach Eric Blahic more time to assess his players. The French tactician recently replaced Jorge Vilda as Morocco’s head coach and is tasked with preparing the team for its second appearance at the Women’s World Cup.
The match against Venezuela will test Morocco against South American opposition, while the meeting with France will provide a demanding examination against an established European side. Both fixtures could help Blahic identify areas for improvement and determine the squad combinations best suited to upcoming competitive matches.
Beyond the World Cup, Morocco are also preparing for the African qualifying competition for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. The Atlas Lionesses have secured a place in the third round following the withdrawal of the Democratic Republic of Congo from the competition.
Morocco are now scheduled to face Nigeria’s Super Falcons in a two-legged third-round tie between February 23 and March 6, 2027. Nigeria advanced after defeating Comoros 5-0 in their second-leg encounter, completing their progression to the next stage.
The meeting will be a significant test for both sides as they pursue one of Africa’s two available places at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. Nigeria are among the continent’s leading women’s football teams, while Morocco will look to build on their recent progress and strengthen their competitiveness against top African opposition.
The December friendlies against Venezuela and France therefore offer Morocco an important opportunity to sharpen their preparations before the Olympic qualifiers and the 2027 World Cup.
