The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has confirmed that head coach Mohamed Ouahbi will remain in charge of the national team as preparations continue for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host alongside Spain and Portugal. The federation publicly expressed its confidence in the 49-year-old following the Atlas Lions' campaign at the 2026 World Cup.
Ouahbi was appointed as Morocco's head coach in March after succeeding Walid Regragui, who guided the Atlas Lions to a historic World Cup semi-final appearance in 2022. Although Morocco's latest tournament ended with a 2-0 defeat to France in the quarter-finals, the federation believes the team remains on the right path under its current leadership.
While the federation has not officially disclosed the duration of Ouahbi's contract, the coach previously indicated that his agreement runs through the 2030 World Cup. That timeline aligns with Morocco's long-term objective of building a competitive squad capable of challenging on home soil when it hosts football's biggest tournament with its European partners.
Ouahbi's reputation rose significantly after leading Morocco to the FIFA Under-20 World Cup title in 2025, a success that strengthened his credentials before taking charge of the senior national team. The federation's decision to retain him reflects its commitment to continuity as Morocco prepares for upcoming Africa Cup of Nations campaigns and the 2030 World Cup.
