Morocco 2026 Qualifiers: Ruthless Flamingos crush Guinea 11-0 to reach final round

Posted : 01 June 2026

Nigeria's U-17 women's national team, the Flamingos, delivered a statement performance as they overwhelmed Guinea 11-0 on aggregate to book their place in the final qualifying round for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.

Having secured a comfortable 5-0 victory in the first leg played in Abidjan, the Flamingos returned home to Ikenne and produced an even more emphatic display, dismantling their opponents 6-0 to complete a flawless qualification outing.

The Bankole Olowookere-led side wasted little time asserting their superiority. In-form forward Oluwakemi Adegbuyi opened the scoring in the ninth minute after connecting with an excellent delivery from Queen Joseph. The early goal set the tone for another dominant afternoon.

Captain Harmony Chidi soon doubled Nigeria's advantage with a stunning long-range effort before Queen Joseph got on the scoresheet herself in the 23rd minute, capping off a lively attacking performance.

Adegbuyi grabbed her second goal of the match in the 32nd minute with a well-taken header, while Chidi also completed her brace just two minutes later as the Flamingos headed into the break with a commanding five-goal cushion.

Despite their overwhelming aggregate lead, the Nigerian girls maintained their attacking intensity in the second half. Substitute Precious Oscar added the sixth goal in the 70th minute to complete a comprehensive victory and underline the team's superiority over the two-legged contest.

The Flamingos' 11-0 aggregate triumph showcased their attacking quality, tactical discipline, and growing confidence as they moved one step closer to securing a place at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco.

Nigeria will now face Benin Republic in the third and final round of the qualifiers, with a World Cup ticket at stake.

Meanwhile, the team's impressive six-goal performance in Ikenne earned a special reward from Remo Stars and Beyond Limits FC proprietor, Hon. Kunle Soname.

Having pledged N750,000 for every goal scored, Soname fulfilled his promise by presenting the Flamingos with a total sum of N4.5 million following their memorable victory.

The decisive aggregate victory sets a high standard for the team as they advance to the final stage of the qualification series. With financial motivation backing their formidable tactical form, the squad remains heavily favored to secure their global tournament ticket. Fans can anticipate an intense final round against Benin Republic as these young stars chase World Cup glory.
