More heartbreak as Heartland International FC gets dumped out of Imo FA Cup

After a series of uninspiring displays in the ongoing 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Heartland FC once again suffered yet another heartbreak as they have been knocked out of the 2024 Federation Cup by the relatively unknown Ikukuoma Football Club of Mbaise.


The lingering woes of the Naze Millionaires, Christian Obi, continued as Ikukuoma Football Club of Mbaise knocked out Heartland Football Club of Owerri in the Imo State Federation Cup on Wednesday.


The Naze Millionaires were eliminated on penalties after the match ended 2-2 in regulation time in the semi-finals of the 2023/2024 Imo FA Cup, which took place at the Old Township Stadium in Owerri.


The duo of Ikechukwu Mgbemena and Timothy Afolabi were on the scoresheet for the Naze Millionaires during regulation time as they were defeated 3-2 on penalties.


With this result, Heartland, under the tutelage of Obi, has failed to represent the state at the national level for the first time, and they are currently 19th on the NPFL log following a series of uninspiring performances.


Meanwhile, Ikukuoma FC will face Fr Eburuajah FC in the final of the Imo FA Cup.
