Mmesoma Nnorom Rallies Kun Khalifat FC for Survival Battle Against Warri Wolves

Posted : 10 April 2026

Kun Khalifat FC forward Mmesoma Nnorom has declared that his teammates are "charged for survival" as the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) enters its final stages. The league newcomers are currently fighting to maintain their top-flight status after a challenging debut season. Nnorom emphasized that the recent surge in form has revitalized the dressing room ahead of their Matchday 34 fixture.

The Owerri-based club secured a massive boost last weekend with a dramatic 1-0 away win against Nasarawa United in Lafia. Stanley Otu scored the decisive goal in the 95th minute to stun the fourth-placed hosts. The victory was particularly emotional as it was dedicated to former captain and Team Manager Chijioke Ekpemandu; he tragically passed away in a road accident just 24 hours before the match.

Despite the recent win, Kun Khalifat FC remains at the bottom of the NPFL table with 36 points from 33 matches. However, the gap to safety has narrowed significantly; they now sit only four points behind rivals like Remo Stars and Enyimba. The team has shown remarkable resilience lately by picking up 10 points from their last five league outings.

This Sunday, the "Khalifat Boys" will host 10th-placed Warri Wolves at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri. Warri Wolves enter the contest in high spirits after defeating Rivers United 2-0 in their previous match. Nnorom, the 20-year-old attacker, noted that the squad is fully aware of the threat posed by the visitors but remains confident in their home advantage.

Technical reports suggest that the club has overcome previous internal disputes and potential withdrawal threats to focus entirely on the pitch. The tactical setup under their current coaching staff has prioritized defensive stability; this has resulted in two clean sheets in their last three games. Nnorom believes that maintaining this defensive discipline will be the key to overcoming a physical Warri Wolves side.

With only five matches remaining in the 2025/2026 season, every point is now vital for the club’s top-flight ambitions. A victory on Sunday could potentially lift them out of the 20th position for the first time in months. The players have vowed to fight until the final whistle of the season to ensure the Owerri fans enjoy Premier League football next year.
