Mikel Arteta Agrees New Contract to Extend Arsenal Stay

Mikel Arteta has agreed an improved contract with Arsenal that will extend his tenure as manager beyond the expiry of his current deal. The agreement follows several months of negotiations between the Spaniard and the Premier League champions.

Arteta, who took charge of Arsenal in December 2019, had been contracted until the end of the 2026-27 season. Reports indicate the new agreement is expected to keep him at the club for at least another three years, although Arsenal have not publicly confirmed the full terms.

The 44-year-old previously said there was no reason for supporters to be concerned about his future, stressing that he remained happy at the club and that both sides shared the same ambitions.

Arteta has overseen Arsenal's development since succeeding Unai Emery, including the club's first Premier League title in 22 years last season. Arsenal also reached the Champions League final during the 2025-26 campaign before losing to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties.

The new agreement provides continuity for Arsenal as Arteta enters another stage of his time in north London. The club's owners had previously identified securing his future as a major priority following last season's league title success.
