Mighty Jets Stun Nasarawa United in Lafia Friendly

Posted : 28 October 2026

Mighty Jets International FC of Jos boosted their preparations for the 2026/27 Nigeria National League (NNL) season with an impressive 2-1 victory over Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Nasarawa United in Lafia.

The pre-season friendly saw the former Nigerian top-flight champions demonstrate their attacking quality against a Nasarawa United side currently occupying third position in the NPFL.

After a goalless first half, Mighty Jets broke the deadlock five minutes into the restart through midfield sensation Ukeyima Emmanuel, who finished brilliantly to give the visitors the lead in the 50th minute.

The Jos-based side extended their advantage in the 60th minute when striker Usman Meyanga produced a neat finish to make it 2-0.

Facing the prospect of defeat on home soil, Nasarawa United head coach Mbwas Mangut introduced six regular NPFL players in a bid to turn the game around.

The changes increased the pressure on Mighty Jets, with Aluko Sunday reducing the deficit in the 84th minute.

However, the visitors held firm in the closing stages to secure an encouraging victory against the Lafia-based club.

The result provides a timely confidence boost for Mighty Jets as they intensify preparations for the new NNL campaign.

Nasarawa United, meanwhile, will have to assess their performance after the defeat, having beaten Enyimba International FC 1-0 at the same venue last Sunday.

Mighty Jets are scheduled to begin their league campaign away to Yobe Desert Stars on Nov. 7, as they seek a strong start to the new season.
