Mighty Jets FC Bounce Back with Convincing Win Over City FC

Mighty Jets International FC of Jos returned to winning ways on Match Day 4 of the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League after a dominant 2-0 performance against visiting City FC of Abuja. Motivated to overturn a slow start to the season, the home side delivered a commanding display in front of a packed New Jos Stadium, with fans creating an electric atmosphere from the opening whistle.

The breakthrough came in the 22nd minute when lanky forward Okon Otop Eta rose between defenders to head home the opener, sending the crowd into jubilation. City FC’s struggles intensified in the 39th minute when a defender handled the ball inside the box, resulting in a penalty. Confidently stepping up, Otop converted from 12 yards to double Jets’ advantage, giving his team a comfortable lead heading into halftime.

City FC’s woes continued in the second half when they were reduced to 10 men after a harsh tackle on Otop in the 70th minute. Despite briefly threatening to reduce the deficit, the visitors were denied by a sensational goal-line clearance from Jets defender Nwobodo Obinna in the 80th minute, ensuring the victory remained intact until the final whistle.

Earlier in the match, midfielders Ukeyima Emmanuel and captain Saleh Mohammed both came close to scoring with impressive free-kicks, setting the tone for Jets’ attacking display. Speaking after the game, Otop expressed delight at scoring his third goal of the season and helping his team secure a crucial win. Captain Saleh Mohammed attributed the victory to collective discipline and determination from the entire squad.
