Messi Inspires Inter Miami Comeback Win in Seven-Goal Thriller Against Cincinnati

Lionel Messi delivered another standout performance with two goals and two assists as Inter Miami CF produced a thrilling 5-3 comeback victory over FC Cincinnati in Major League Soccer on Wednesday.

The Argentina captain is enjoying strong form ahead of the upcoming World Cup in North America, continuing his impressive scoring run with 11 goals in 12 MLS appearances this season. The win also lifted Inter Miami into second place in the Eastern Conference with 25 points.

Messi opened the scoring in the 24th minute after reacting quickest to a loose ball following a poor clearance, giving Miami an early advantage. However, Cincinnati responded before halftime through Kevin Denkey’s penalty to level the match at 1-1.

The hosts then took control early in the second half when Pavel Bucha put them 2-1 ahead, but Messi quickly restored parity in the 55th minute with a composed left-footed finish following a flowing team move involving Rodrigo De Paul.

Cincinnati regained the lead again through Evander, who scored a powerful strike from distance in the 64th minute, continuing his impressive scoring run. But Miami refused to back down in a fast-paced encounter filled with momentum swings.

Messi later turned provider, setting up young Argentine Mateo Silvetti in the 79th minute to put Miami back in front, before further pressure led to another goal that made it 4-3.

In the closing stages, Messi was once again decisive, forcing the final goal in the 89th minute as his shot struck the post and deflected in off goalkeeper Roman Celentano for an own goal to seal the victory.

Miami head coach praised his side’s performance, highlighting their resilience in a difficult away environment and insisting the team continues to raise the level of football in MLS through performances like this.
