Marquinhos Rescues PSG with Dramatic Late Equaliser Against Lille

Paris Saint-Germain produced another remarkable late comeback on Friday, scoring twice in stoppage time to salvage a 2-2 draw away to Lille in Ligue 1. The reigning French and European champions appeared destined for defeat after falling two goals behind, but Vitinha and captain Marquinhos struck in the closing moments to rescue a point.

Lille took control in the 21st minute when Hakon Arnar Haraldsson fired a powerful first-time finish from the edge of the box following a clever pass from Olivier Giroud. PSG struggled to find a response as Lille maintained their defensive shape and limited the visitors' attacking threat.

The hosts looked to have secured the victory when Dilane Bakwa doubled their advantage in the 84th minute. The substitute, making his Lille debut after arriving on loan from Nottingham Forest, curled a fine effort into the net and appeared to have put the result beyond PSG's reach.

However, PSG refused to surrender. Vitinha reignited their hopes in the first minute of added time with a superb strike that reduced the deficit to 2-1. The Portugal international then turned provider, delivering the cross that allowed Marquinhos to power a header home with virtually the final action of the match.

The comeback continued PSG's frustrating start to the Ligue 1 campaign. Luis Enrique's side have drawn both of their opening matches, having also recovered from a two-goal deficit against Rennes in their season opener thanks to Ferran Torres' late double.

PSG were without Ousmane Dembele for the trip after the France international was given time off following his substitution at half-time against Rennes. Bradley Barcola was also absent amid reports of an impending high-value move to Liverpool, while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia began the match on the bench.

Lille, meanwhile, will be disappointed after coming within seconds of recording a second consecutive victory under new coach Davide Ancelotti. His father, Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti, watched from the stands as Lille surrendered their two-goal lead in dramatic fashion.

Despite dropping two points, PSG can take confidence from another display of late resilience as they prepare for the defence of their Champions League crown. Their upcoming league-phase schedule includes meetings with Barcelona and Manchester City.
