Manchester United have stepped up their pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo by submitting a renewed bid exceeding £60 million for the Brentford striker. Earlier this month, the club saw their initial offer of £45 million plus £10 million in potential add-ons rejected. Talks between both clubs are ongoing, as United aim to secure the 25-year-old Cameroon international as their second major signing of the summer.
This follows the £62.5 million acquisition of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, a move that has signalled manager Ruben Amorim's intent to reshape the squad ahead of the upcoming season. Mbeumo’s proven Premier League track record and attacking output—20 goals and nine assists last season—make him a priority for Amorim, who wants players capable of delivering immediate impact when pre-season begins on 7 July.
Brentford are expected to demand at least a fee similar to what Wolves received for Cunha before they consider parting ways with Mbeumo, who has just one year left on his current contract. While new Tottenham boss Thomas Frank is also interested in bringing Mbeumo back under his wing, Manchester United are currently leading the race, despite competing interest from other Champions League clubs.
However, Mbeumo’s potential arrival could coincide with some departures from Old Trafford. Alejandro Garnacho's future is under scrutiny after he posted an image wearing an Aston Villa jersey bearing Marcus Rashford’s name, prompting speculation about a possible exit. Rashford, who has been told by Amorim to seek opportunities elsewhere, responded affectionately, hinting at strong ties between the pair. Garnacho has been valued at £60 million amid growing transfer interest.
