Manchester United have not ruled out making moves in the transfer market ahead of Monday’s deadline, interim head coach Michael Carrick confirmed. While the club missed out on long-term target Antoine Semenyo, who opted to join Manchester City from Bournemouth, speculation continues about potential midfield reinforcements, including Ruben Neves from Al-Hilal.
Carrick acknowledged the squad is managing injury setbacks, with left-sided utility player Patrick Dorgu set to miss “a number of weeks.” This has fueled suggestions that United might look to bring in cover before the window closes. Asked directly about potential signings, Carrick remained non-committal but left the door open, stating, “Never say never. A lot can happen, and situations can be thrown up. Sometimes it is in our control, sometimes not. I am pretty calm. We have shown what we are capable of as a team.”

Forward Joshua Zirkzee, who has been linked with a return to Italy amid Juventus interest, is available for selection after recovering from a minor injury. Carrick praised Zirkzee’s progress in training and said he is eager to work with the striker during Sunday’s Premier League fixture.
Meanwhile, the future of captain Bruno Fernandes remains under discussion, though Carrick stressed that any decisions regarding the Portugal international would be addressed later in the season. The United interim boss emphasized the team’s focus on current fixtures while monitoring ongoing transfer developments.
