Manchester City to Face Southampton, Chelsea to Take on Leeds in FA Cup Semifinals

Manchester City will clash with Southampton in one FA Cup semifinal, while Chelsea will take on Leeds United in the other, after the draw was confirmed on Sunday.

Southampton earned their spot with a surprise 2‑1 victory over Arsenal, ending the Gunners’ hopes of a deeper cup run. Meanwhile, Manchester City dominated Liverpool 4‑0, and Chelsea cruised past Port Vale with a 7‑0 win to secure their place in the last four.

Southampton, who have only one FA Cup triumph from 1976, will face a City team aiming for a fourth consecutive final appearance.

Despite City’s strong history, including their 2023 victory, they have fallen short in recent semifinals against Manchester United and Crystal Palace. The Saints will hope to rekindle the magic of their historic win nearly five decades ago.

Leeds United reached the semifinals for the first time in 39 years after a dramatic extra-time penalty shootout against West Ham.

 The Championship side had conceded two late goals in regular time, forcing the match into extra time, where it remained scoreless before Leeds triumphed 4‑2 in penalties. Chelsea, who defeated Port Vale emphatically, have a storied FA Cup history, winning the trophy eight times and famously defeating Leeds in the 1970 final replay.

The semifinal ties at Wembley Stadium are scheduled for the weekend of April 25‑26, promising high-stakes clashes as the teams battle for a place in the final.
