Manchester City nears deal for River Plate's Claudio Echeverri, Spurs eyes Dominic Solanke

Posted : 26 December 2023

Manchester City appears close to securing a deal for River Plate's young talent, Claudio Echeverri, following in the footsteps of Julian Alvarez. The 17-year-old, valued at £17.5 million, is expected to join City in a similar arrangement that saw Alvarez move to the club, likely involving a loan back to River Plate. Echeverri, who captained Argentina to victory in the Under-17 World Cup, is set to strengthen City's future squad.

Tottenham is reportedly monitoring Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke, considering a potential summer move. Solanke, who recently scored a Premier League hat-trick, has attracted Spurs' attention, with the club eager to sign a striker in the upcoming transfer window. The 26-year-old's impressive form has Spurs scouts closely watching him, signaling a possible bid for the forward.

English clubs, including Manchester City, Chelsea, and Manchester United, are interested in Palmeiras starlet Estevao Willian, also known as 'Messinho.' The player, who desires a move to Barcelona, might face challenges due to Barcelona's financial situation, opening the door for English clubs and Paris Saint-Germain to make a move. Willian's potential sale could follow a similar path to previous Palmeiras deals, allowing him to stay at the Brazilian club until he can move to Europe.

Erik ten Hag, Manchester United's manager, has stated that the club does not plan to sell Anthony Martial in the January transfer window. Despite Martial having only six months left on his current deal, United is not rushing to activate the extension. Ten Hag, while open to reinforcing the attacking options in January, expressed little desire to part ways with Martial, emphasizing the scarcity of attacking choices.
