Manchester City Complete £62.5m Signing of Antoine Semenyo

Posted : 09 January 2026

Manchester City have officially completed the signing of Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo, strengthening their attacking options ahead of a busy second half of the campaign. The 26-year-old Ghana international joins the Premier League champions for an initial fee of £62.5 million, with a further £1.5 million included in potential performance-related add-ons.

Semenyo has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2031. After successfully completing his medical on Thursday, the winger has been registered in time for the weekend and could make his City debut in Saturday’s FA Cup third-round clash against League One side Exeter City. He will also be available for selection in the Carabao Cup semifinal first leg away to Newcastle United on Tuesday.

City’s Director of Football, Hugo Viana, revealed that Semenyo quickly became the club’s top transfer target following his impressive form at Bournemouth. He praised the winger’s professionalism, work ethic, and Premier League experience, describing him as an ideal fit for Guardiola’s system. Semenyo will wear the No.42 shirt, previously worn by club legend Yaya Touré.

The winger departs Bournemouth after scoring 10 goals in 20 Premier League appearances this season and arrives in Manchester eager to compete for trophies. Speaking after completing the move, Semenyo expressed pride at joining City, highlighting the club’s dominance under Pep Guardiola and success across domestic and European competitions over the past decade.

Semenyo added that the move comes at the perfect stage of his career, insisting his best football is still ahead of him. With City still competing on multiple fronts, he believes he can play an important role as the club pushes for silverware in the latter stages of the season.
