Manchester City are in advanced negotiations with Lille over a deal for highly rated Morocco midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi. The Premier League club are pushing to complete the transfer quickly following the agreement that will see Rodri leave for Barcelona.
Lille are understood to value the 18-year-old at around €100 million (£85 million), while reports indicate that personal terms with City have already been agreed. City see Bouaddi as an important addition to their midfield following Rodri’s impending departure.
Bouaddi has attracted widespread attention since making his Lille debut as a teenager. He also impressed on the international stage at the 2026 World Cup, starting five of Morocco’s six matches as they progressed to the quarter-finals.
The midfielder is expected to provide a deep-lying option in City's midfield, complementing Elliot Anderson, who arrived from Nottingham Forest for a club-record fee earlier in the summer. City have already invested heavily in rebuilding their midfield ahead of the new campaign.
City have also maintained their interest in Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández. However, Chelsea expect the Argentina international to remain at Stamford Bridge after City failed to meet the deadline attached to their reported £120 million valuation.
Rodri's departure will bring an end to his seven-year spell at City. The Spain international made 298 appearances for the club after joining from Atlético Madrid in 2019 and won multiple major honours, including four Premier League titles and the Champions League.
