2025/2026 NNL Match Day 8 Review: Man-of-the-Match Award Excites Mutalubi

Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Ilorin FC forward, Danjuma Mutalubi, has expressed his delight after scoring his first league goal of the season and winning the Man of the Match award in his side’s 2–1 victory over Mighty Jets.

The forward opened the scoring as early as the fourth minute, rising highest to head home Mujeeb Atoyebi’s cross in their Nigeria National League (NNL) Match Day 8 encounter at the Rashidi Yekini Mainbowl, George Innih Stadium, Ilorin.

Mutalubi said the goal and the individual recognition meant a lot to him, especially as it was his first strike of the campaign.

“It is an amazing feeling for me, and I’m happy to score my first goal. I dreamt of these moments, and I want to enjoy it.

I’m super happy for the victory, which is more important for us,” he said.

The striker also expressed pride after being named the ABS/Jeniklogistics Man of the Match and promised to deliver more for the team in the coming games.

“I am happy with the Man of the Match award. I feel proud of it, and I want to do more and win more,” he added.

Mutalubi has been a regular feature for ABS Ilorin FC this season, starting seven of the club’s eight league matches so far, and his early strike against Mighty Jets helped the Saraki Boys return to winning ways.
