Malcolm Ebiowei, 2019 Golden Eaglets invitee, discusses loan move to Belgian top-flight club

Posted : 01 February 2024

Nigerian football prospect Malcolm Ebiowei, who received an invitation to the 2019 Golden Eaglets, is currently in discussions regarding a potential loan move to RWD Molenbeek, a team in the Jupiler Pro League. According to reports from Football Insider, the Crystal Palace winger is considering a loan deal with the Belgian club as the current transfer window approaches its closure. Despite attracting interest from several Championship clubs, Ebiowei seems inclined towards joining the Brussels-based team at this juncture.

RWD Molenbeek is facing challenges in maintaining its Jupiler Pro League status, currently occupying the 15th position in the league table and scoring only twenty-five goals throughout the season. Ebiowei's potential move could offer him the opportunity to contribute to the team's efforts to secure their position in the league.

This season, Ebiowei has not seen any action in first-team football for Crystal Palace, despite being named in the matchday squad on thirteen occasions. Instead, he has been featuring for the development side, participating in EFL Trophy and Premier League 2 matches. In these competitions, the young winger has made four appearances and contributed with one assist.

Amid reports of Ebiowei's desire to depart from Selhurst Park before the end of the transfer window, the prospect of joining RWD Molenbeek could provide him with valuable playing time for the remainder of the season. The Belgian club's interest in Ebiowei suggests that they see potential in the Nigerian winger to bolster their squad and make a positive impact in their campaign to secure a place in the Jupiler Pro League.

As negotiations continue, the outcome will determine whether Ebiowei will make the move from South London to Belgium, potentially shaping the next phase of his career and offering him a platform for continued development in European football.
