Following a one-month post-season break, the club has announced the retention of 27 key players while signaling a significant shake-up ahead of the new campaign, slated to begin in August.
The return to training marks the beginning of a critical phase in the club’s strategy to reclaim its place among the top clubs in Nigerian football after a mixed performance in the previous season.
Among those retained are seasoned campaigners such as Rabiu Ali, Ahmed Musa, Zaharadeen Bello, Habibu Yakubu, and Muttaka Musa. The full list includes:
As part of the club's long-term vision, four promising developmental players—Jibrin Yusuf, Aminu Muhammed, Mustapha Muhammed, and Muhammad Usman—will join the senior team to blend experience with youth.
Additionally, new signings, including returning European-based talent Suleiman Idris Ibrahim, will bolster the squad. The full list of incoming players is expected to be unveiled soon.
Speaking ahead of the resumption, Club Chairman, Alhaji Ali Muhammad Umar, charged the players and technical staff to embrace the new season with discipline and total commitment.
“Our objective remains clear, to fight for honours and reclaim our pride of place in Nigerian football,” he stated.
In the just-concluded 2024/25 NPFL season, Kano Pillars finished 9th on the league table with 53 points from 38 matches, a six-point improvement over their 13th-place finish (47 points) in 2023/24. While the team ranked among the highest-scoring sides, inconsistency ultimately limited their push for continental qualification.
As the countdown to the new NPFL season begins, optimism surrounds the Sai Masu Gida camp. With fresh faces, returning leaders, and an emphasis on youth, Kano Pillars are poised for a season driven by ambition, unity, and a hunger for silverware.
