Nigeria international goalkeeper Maduka Okoye was named Man of the Match following his impressive performance for Udinese in their Serie A encounter against Parma on Wednesday.
The Super Eagles goalkeeper played a key role for the Italian club, producing several important saves to help Udinese remain competitive throughout the match. His performance earned him individual recognition at the end of the encounter.
The decisive moment came in the 69th minute when Parma were awarded a penalty after a handball by Udinese defender James Abankwah. Okoye read Adrián Bernabé’s effort and dived to keep the ball out, preserving the goalless scoreline.
The Nigerian also made another important save during the contest. His efforts secured Udinese’s first clean sheet of the 2026/27 Serie A season and helped the team end a run of six consecutive league defeats.
Udinese created several chances but could not find a breakthrough against Parma. The visitors eventually settled for a point from the 0-0 draw at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.
After the match, Okoye described his penalty stop as an instinctive reaction. He said Udinese wanted to win but recognized the value of collecting a point after their difficult run.
Udinese forward Nicolò Zaniolo also praised the goalkeeper’s contribution, describing him as a fantastic goalkeeper and crediting his performance with helping the team end its losing streak.
The award strengthens Okoye’s standing at the Italian club and offers a timely boost as Udinese seek to improve their league form. The goalkeeper will hope to maintain his performance level in the team’s next fixture against Roma.
