Maduka Okoye Eyes Milestone Clean Sheet as Udinese Face AC Milan Test

Posted : 10 April 2026

Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is targeting a major personal milestone this weekend as his side travels to face AC Milan. The Nigerian international aims to record three consecutive clean sheets for the first time in his Serie A career. This potential feat comes after a string of impressive performances that have solidified his position as the first-choice keeper for the Friulani.

The 26-year-old shot-stopper was instrumental in Udinese’s recent goalless draw against high-flying Como. During that encounter, Okoye made four vital saves to deny Cesc Fabregas’ side and secure a point at the Bluenergy Stadium. He also maintained an 80 percent pass accuracy during the match; this showing moved his season tally to seven clean sheets across 24 appearances.

Okoye’s recent form is particularly notable following his recovery from a thigh injury. The injury occurred during international duty with the Super Eagles in Turkey; it forced him to miss Nigeria's friendly against Jordan on March 31. However, he returned to club action fully fit and has not conceded a goal since Juventus secured a 1-0 win on March 14.

Udinese coach Kosta Runjaic has expressed confidence in his goalkeeper ahead of the trip to the San Siro. The team currently sits in 11th place with 40 points from 31 matches. They face an AC Milan side that occupies third position in the standings; however, the Rossoneri are looking to bounce back from a recent 1-0 defeat against Napoli.

A shut-out against the Italian giants would bring Okoye closer to his career-best record of 10 clean sheets. He previously achieved that mark during the 2020/2021 season while playing for Sparta Rotterdam in the Eredivisie. Udinese currently require approximately nine more points to mathematically guarantee their safety in the top flight for another season.

The match presents a significant challenge given Milan’s strong home record at the Giuseppe Meazza this term. The hosts have secured nine victories and four draws in front of their supporters so far. Okoye will need to be at his best to stop an attack that has already netted 47 goals this season.
