Maccabi Haifa have officially secured the services of Nigerian midfielder Peter Agba on a three-year contract. The 22-year-old completed his move from Slovenian side Olimpija Ljubljana after arriving in Israel, where he successfully passed his medical examinations. The transfer fee is reported to be €1 million, while Agba will earn approximately €450,000 per season with the Israeli champions.
Before leaving Slovenia, Agba bid farewell to his Olimpija teammates and confirmed he was heading to Haifa. The club expects him to adapt quickly, as his most recent competitive appearance was less than two weeks ago. There is even a possibility that he could feature in the highly anticipated derby clash against Hapoel Haifa in the next round.
Following the signing, Agba expressed his excitement about joining the club:
“I am thrilled to begin a new chapter at a prestigious club like Maccabi Haifa. This is a team with a fantastic stadium and passionate supporters, and I want to contribute to achieving its goals.”
Agba began his professional career at KSM Sport in Nigeria before moving to Croatia in 2022, where he played for Zrinski Krapina and later Dubrava. In the summer of 2024, Olimpija Ljubljana signed him for €100,000, and he went on to make 127 appearances across all competitions in his career so far, recording eight goals and four assists.
Meanwhile, Maccabi Haifa continue to explore further reinforcements. Reports suggest that if Pierro Corno is registered as an Israeli, the club will target an additional attacking midfielder. Bulgarian media have linked the Greens with a move for Marin Petkov, a deal closely monitored by the team’s management.
