According to a statement by the LSFA, Kwara United General Manager Bashir Badawiy breached security protocols during the high-tension final between Abakaliki FC and Kwara United. The LSFA said Badawiy made frantic attempts to run and jubilate in front of the VVIP section, where five state governors and other high-ranking dignitaries were seated, thereby endangering their safety.
Describing the incident as a blot on an otherwise well-organized tournament, the LSFA board decided to sanction and fine Badawiy for his unruly conduct.
In an official letter signed by LSFA Secretary Mrs. Vera-Hycient Okechukwu, Mr. Badawiy was directed to pay a fine of ₦10 million and issue a formal letter of apology to the Lagos FA, copying the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), no later than Monday, July 15, 2025.
The LSFA also declared Bashir Badawiy persona non grata at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, barring him from accessing the facility until further notice.
