Logistics Issues Force NPFL to Reschedule El-Kanemi Warriors and Nasarawa United Clash

Posted : 13 April 2026

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has officially announced a change in the schedule for the Matchday 34 encounter between El-Kanemi Warriors and Nasarawa United. Originally set to take place on Sunday, April 12, the match has now been moved to Tuesday, April 14, 2026. The league management confirmed that this adjustment was necessary due to complications with flight schedules.

The game will still be hosted at the El-Kanemi Sports Centre in Maiduguri. This delay provides both teams with extra preparation time, though it adds pressure to an already congested fixture list. For the hosts, the stakes are incredibly high as they look to distance themselves from the danger zone.

El-Kanemi Warriors enter this game struggling for form, having failed to secure a victory in their last six league outings. This poor run has left the Borno Army just three points above the relegation spots. A win on Tuesday is essential to halt their slide and provide much-needed breathing space in the survival race.

Nasarawa United are also looking for a rebound performance after a surprising home defeat. The Solid Miners were beaten by Kun Khalifat FC in their last outing, a result that hampered their push for a top-five finish. They currently sit in 6th place with 50 points and will view this rescheduled match as a chance to exploit El-Kanemi's fragile confidence.

The visitors will be wary of the hosts' desperation, as El-Kanemi historically perform well in front of their home fans in Maiduguri. Nasarawa United's technical crew will likely focus on defensive discipline to avoid another upset against a lower-ranked side.

This fixture remains the final game of Matchday 34 to be played. The outcome will have a significant impact on the bottom half of the table, where only one point separates several teams fighting to avoid the four relegation slots. All eyes will be on the El-Kanemi Sports Centre on Tuesday afternoon to see which side blinks first.
