The Management of Lobi Stars FC has appealed to supporters and stakeholders for patience and continued support as the club begins a major rebuilding process ahead of the 2026/2027 football season.
At the conclusion of the 2025/2026 campaign, the club acknowledged the challenges faced during the season while assuring fans that deliberate steps are already being taken to reposition the team for future success.
According to the management, the current administration inherited several difficulties upon assuming office, including a registration ban that initially threatened the club’s participation in the league.
The club explained that through strategic engagements and determined efforts, the ban was eventually lifted, allowing the team to compete during the season.
However, management admitted that the limited preparation time affected its ability to conduct extensive restructuring and recruit quality players before the start of the campaign.
Despite the setbacks, the club highlighted some notable achievements recorded during the season, including the successful return of home matches to Makurdi, a move described as vital in reconnecting the team with its passionate supporters across Benue State.
Lobi Stars also pointed to its impressive outing in the Nigeria National League, where the club finished second to revive hopes of a brighter future for the team.
However, the club’s Federation Cup journey ended in disappointment after suffering elimination via a penalty shootout in Abuja.
As part of efforts to restore the club’s status as one of Nigeria’s leading football sides, management disclosed plans to embark on wide-ranging reforms during the off-season.
The proposed reforms include strategic player recruitment, strengthening of the technical crew, establishment of an Under-19 feeder team, and the creation of a female football team aimed at developing young talents and promoting women’s football in the state.
The club added that its long-term objective remains a return to the Nigeria Premier Football League and sustained competitiveness at the highest level of Nigerian football.
The management further expressed appreciation to Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the Benue State Government, and football supporters for their continuous backing of sports development and youth empowerment through football.
The statement concluded with an assurance that Lobi Stars would emerge from the rebuilding phase stronger, more organized, and fully prepared for future challenges.
The management of the Makurdi-based side remains committed to overcoming historical administrative issues by laying a sustainable framework for growth. By focusing on grassroots development, structured squad updates, and corporate backing, the Alia Boys intend to restore their competitive edge. This transitional phase marks a determined effort to fulfill the long-term aspirations of the club and its dedicated supporters.
