2025/2026 NNL Match Day 3: Lobi Stars FC Survives Mighty Jets Scare with 2–1 Win

Lobi Stars’ young prodigy, Benjamin Agugu, came off the bench to score the decisive goal on his birthday, handing his side a 2–1 victory over Mighty Jets FC in Match Day 3 of the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League at Lafia City Stadium.

The visitors drew first blood in the 12th minute when Valentine Egiga fouled Joseph Okoh inside the box, allowing Okon Otop Eta to convert a penalty and put Mighty Jets ahead. Lobi Stars responded in the 30th minute with Suur Kumaga heading in a cross from Egiga to level the score before halftime.

After the break, Coach Abubakar Bala Mohammed made tactical substitutions, introducing Afeez Yusuf and Benjamin Agugu. In the 67th minute, Agugu connected with Kumaga to score the match-winner, delighting fans and teammates alike.

The remainder of the game saw constant attacks from both sides, but Lobi Stars held on to secure their second win in three weeks. Coach Bala praised the team’s resilience, noting that the league is a marathon and expressing confidence in achieving their season objectives.

The win leaves Lobi Stars, alongside ABS and FC Basira, on six points, sharing second place on goal difference behind table leaders Doma United. Lobi Stars will next face ABS FC in Ilorin in Match Day 4.
