Lobi Stars FC boss, Lorfa allegedly orders thugs to assault Enyimba International FC Media Officer

Posted : 08 April 2024

There is an allegation circulating that the Chairman of Lobi Stars FC allegedly ordered thugs to beat up the Media Officer of Enyimba International FC.

It is becoming evident that the desperation of some teams to win at all costs may soon destroy the nascent success and good work of the organizers of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), if not immediately checked.

The derogatory and barbaric measures seemingly allegedly employed by Lobi Stars officials and hired thugs also leave much to be desired of the professional attitude of our league following the incident that occurred in Enyimba's matchday 29 encounter against the Markurdi side.

Earlier on Sunday, the media department of Lobi Stars resorted to clandestine tactics when they declared the game as a closed-door encounter in a media report, which not only baffled their opponents but also the entire football fans, including Enyimba FC fans based in Lafia and its environs who would have loved to support their beloved team.

The real plot of the host team was revealed in the shenanigans that ensued after an obvious penalty incident against the home side, which was completely overlooked by the center referee, much to the dismay of the away side and a handful of neutrals inside the Lafia Stadium.

At that point, realizing that their dubious measures were being recorded and exposed, some menacing-looking thugs apparently employed by the home team started assaulting the away team's cameraman. This was resisted by Enyimba's Media Officer, Orji David, and they descended on him under the watch of their Club Chairman, Dominic Lorfa, who ordered him to leave the arena and refused him to perform his duties, including arranging for media coverage with their coach.

It is indeed a barbaric means of trying to win the league or stay in contention, and the authorities should intervene in this derogatory behavior employed by some club managers just to win at home. Additionally, heavier punishment should be devised for teams and match officials who act as killjoys with their devilish officiating.
