Liam Rosenior has admitted that Chelsea FC are going through a difficult period after their disappointing 3–0 home defeat to Manchester City at Stamford Bridge. The result added further pressure on the Chelsea head coach as his side continue to struggle for consistency.
All three goals came in the second half, with Nico O’Reilly, Marc Guehi and Jeremy Doku on target for the visitors, as City strengthened their push for the Premier League title.
Chelsea’s poor run of form has now seen them drop to sixth place in the league, leaving their hopes of Champions League qualification in serious doubt. Rosenior’s side have lost five of their last six matches in all competitions, including three consecutive league defeats without scoring a goal.
The Chelsea boss admitted his team fell below expected standards, particularly in their response after conceding. He said the second-half collapse highlighted ongoing issues with confidence and the ability to handle setbacks during matches.
Rosenior also acknowledged the frustration of supporters, with fans booing the team off at full-time. He insisted that effort was not the issue but stressed that the squad must urgently rebuild confidence and improve results in the final stretch of the season.
The manager also addressed the absence of midfielder Enzo Fernández, who was left out for a second straight game following disciplinary action after expressing uncertainty about his future at the club. Rosenior confirmed the situation has been resolved and that Fernández will return to the squad after discussions with teammates and staff.
Despite the setback, Rosenior maintained that Chelsea remain focused on improvement and must quickly respond ahead of another crucial fixture next week.
