Liam Delap Completes Club-Record Move to Nottingham Forest

Liam Delap has completed his transfer from Chelsea to Nottingham Forest in a club-record deal worth up to £50 million. The 23-year-old striker has signed a five-year contract after spending just one season at Stamford Bridge.

The transfer is understood to involve an initial £45 million fee, with a further £5 million available in add-ons. Chelsea could therefore make up to £20 million in profit after signing Delap from Ipswich Town for around £30 million last summer.

Delap struggled to reproduce the form that made him one of England's most promising young forwards during his time at Ipswich. He scored 12 Premier League goals in 2024/25 despite playing for a team that was relegated, but managed only limited returns at Chelsea amid injuries and competition for places.

At Forest, Delap will work under manager Oliver Glasner and hopes regular football can help him rediscover his best form. He has praised the club's history and Glasner's approach, believing the Austrian coach can help him develop and take the next step in his career.

The move makes Delap Forest's most expensive signing, surpassing the £37.5 million the club spent on Omari Hutchinson in 2025. Forest will now expect the young striker to justify their significant investment and provide the goals needed to improve on last season's Premier League campaign.
