Legendary Italian striker lauds Victor Osimhen's undeniable quality despite UCL defeat

Legendary Italian striker Alessandro Del Piero has expressed admiration for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen despite Osimhen's scoreless performance for Napoli against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.


Osimhen has been a key player for Napoli in recent years, notably contributing to their Serie A title win last season with 26 goals in 32 appearances.


Despite missing several Serie A games this season due to injury, Osimhen remains Napoli's top scorer in the league with 11 goals.


However, Osimhen couldn't guide Napoli past Barcelona in the Champions League, with his solitary shot off target contributing to their 3-1 defeat in the second leg, resulting in a 4-2 aggregate loss.


Despite criticism of Osimhen's performance, Del Piero believes the striker's qualities are undeniable and attributes his struggles to the team's overall performance.


Del Piero acknowledges Osimhen's positive attitude despite Napoli's challenging season, expressing confidence in his abilities despite recent setbacks.


With their Champions League exit, Napoli can now shift their focus to Serie A, where they aim to improve their standing in the remaining ten matches, currently trailing the Champions League qualification spots by seven points.
