Leeds Close in on Premier League Safety After Convincing Win Over Burnley

Leeds United F.C. moved to the brink of securing Premier League safety after a commanding 3-1 victory over already-relegated Burnley F.C. at Elland Road on Friday night. The result gives Leeds a nine-point cushion over the relegation zone with only four matches remaining for their rivals.

Goals from Anton Stach, Noah Okafor, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin ensured a comfortable evening for Daniel Farke’s side, who continue to impress in their first season back in the top flight. The win also lifts them into 14th place, strengthening their position among newly promoted teams that have managed to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.

Leeds started strongly, taking an early lead through Stach before producing a decisive burst after half-time. Okafor added a second with a well-worked team move, and Calvert-Lewin extended the advantage with his 13th goal of the season, effectively sealing the result.

Burnley, who were already relegated before kick-off, struggled to match Leeds’ intensity and are enduring a difficult campaign following their return to the Premier League. The club recently changed management in an attempt to stabilise results, but their struggles have continued throughout the season.

Leeds manager Daniel Farke praised his team’s consistency during a tense run-in, stressing that survival is not yet mathematically confirmed but is now within touching distance. He highlighted the importance of recent results, noting that his side have delivered key points during a critical stage of the season.

Despite Burnley scoring a late consolation goal, Leeds remained in control and saw out a victory that moves them significantly closer to their objective of Premier League survival.
