Lagos Supremacy Cup Targets Global Exposure for Grassroots Talents

Posted : 02 October 2026

The 21st Lagos Supremacy Cup is set to provide another platform for Nigeria’s emerging football talents to attract international attention when the grassroots competition holds from November 9 to 12 at the Legacy Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

The four-day tournament will feature eight teams battling for the championship under the theme, “8 Teams! One Supremo! One Trophy!”, with matches scheduled between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. daily.

Beyond the competition for honours, the tournament is expected to place strong emphasis on talent discovery, with scouts and sporting directors from several countries scheduled to monitor the participating players.

Representatives from Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, France, Brazil, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates are expected to attend the tournament, creating an avenue for promising players to attract opportunities beyond Nigeria.

The Lagos Supremacy Cup has over the years developed into a platform for grassroots football development and player identification, with the organisers seeking to strengthen its international dimension in the 21st edition.

The competition will retain its distinctive playing format under the slogan, “No Offside!!! Operation Mark Your Man!!!”, a regulation designed by the organisers to encourage attacking football, physical contests and increased goal-scoring opportunities.

Wale Joseph, representing the organising committee, said the latest edition would raise the standard of competition while providing greater visibility for young footballers.

“The Lagos Supremacy Cup transcends being merely a tournament; it represents a movement. We have consistently provided young Nigerian footballers with visibility. This year, we are elevating expectations to guarantee that exceptional talents receive the recognition they merit,” he said.

With eight grassroots teams, international scouts and sports directors expected to be present, the organisers believe the tournament will provide an important platform for players seeking to attract professional opportunities.

The four-day competition is therefore expected to combine the intensity of grassroots football with an international talent-identification dimension as the Lagos Supremacy Cup enters its 21st edition.
