The Super Falcons have intensified preparations for their 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games qualifying campaign, with captain Rasheedat Ajibade and six other players joining the team’s training camp ahead of Friday’s encounter with Comoros.
The arrival of Ajibade, Michelle Alozie, Christy Ucheibe, Toni Payne, Jennifer Echegini, Folashade Ijamilusi and Janet Akekoromowei has increased the number of players in camp to 21.
Five additional players are expected to join the squad by Tuesday evening as the Falcons continue preparations for the crucial second-round qualifying fixture.
The first-leg encounter, originally scheduled to be played in Comoros, will now take place at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne-Remo, on Friday from 6:00 p.m.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Rwanda’s Henriette Byukusenge as the centre referee for the match.
She will be assisted by compatriots Sandrine Murangwa and Regine Mukayiranga as first and second assistant referees, while Aline Umutoni will serve as the fourth official.
Namibia’s Fransiska Katjaimo has been appointed referee assessor, with Burkina Faso’s Oumou Sy designated as match commissioner.
Meanwhile, the Comoros senior women’s national team arrived in Ijebu-Ode on Monday night ahead of the encounter.
The visitors were scheduled to hold their first training session in Ikenne-Remo on Tuesday evening as they begin preparations for their first meeting with the nine-time African champions in the qualifying series.
The Super Falcons will be seeking to secure a strong advantage in the first leg before the return fixture as both teams battle for progression in the Olympic qualifying race.
