Kylian Mbappe Joins Real Madrid on Five-Year Deal

Posted : 04 June 2024

After years of speculation and rumors, Kylian Mbappe has officially signed with Real Madrid for a five-season contract. The 25-year-old French superstar leaves Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent after seven seasons, during which he became the club's all-time leading scorer with 255 goals.

During his tenure, Mbappe won six championships and four cups, earning the title of player of the season in the French league five times, though he never managed to secure a Champions League victory for PSG. Now, he joins a team that recently clinched its 15th Champions League title, the most in history, setting the stage for new triumphs.

Mbappe expressed his elation upon signing, sharing nostalgic photos of himself as a child wearing a Real Madrid jacket and embracing Cristiano Ronaldo. "A dream come true," he wrote on social media, expressing his pride and excitement to join his dream club. He conveyed his eagerness to meet the Madrid fans and thanked them for their incredible support, concluding with an enthusiastic "Come on Madrid!"

Beyond his club successes, Mbappe is already a World Cup champion, having won the tournament with France in 2018 at just 20 years old. He was a standout player during that tournament and continued to shine in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where he led France to the final with eight goals, including a hat-trick in the final match against Argentina.

Despite his efforts, France lost in a penalty shootout to Argentina, led by Leo Messi. Mbappe's international record boasts 46 goals, placing him third all-time for France, just 11 goals behind the top scorer Olivier Giroud.

Joining Real Madrid after his most prolific season with PSG, where he scored 44 goals in 48 appearances, Mbappe aims to elevate his game further. At Real Madrid, he will earn around 35 million euros per season, plus bonuses, and received a substantial 40 million euro signing bonus. He arrives with the ambition to follow in Cristiano Ronaldo's footsteps and win the Ballon d'Or, aiming to become the best player in the world.

Mbappe will enhance Real Madrid's formidable attack, joining forces with Vinicius, Rodrigo, and Jude Bellingham, alongside new arrival Andric from Palmeiras, and will be one of four French players in the squad, including Ferland Mendy, Eduardo Camavinga, and Aurélien Tchouaméni.
