Kwara United Unveil 16 New Signings to Bolster Squad for 2026/27 Campaign

Posted : 23 July 2026

Kwara United Football Club has unveiled 16 new players as part of a major squad overhaul ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The unveiling ceremony, held on Wednesday at the club's secretariat, also confirmed the retention of 16 players from last season's squad as the Harmony Boys intensify preparations for the new campaign.

Chairman of the club, Mr. Kumbi Titiloye, said the recruitment drive became necessary following the departure of several players whose contracts expired, while others opted to continue their careers elsewhere.

According to him, the new arrivals were carefully selected to strengthen every department of the team as Kwara United prepares to compete for honours on all fronts.

"Our target this season is to finish at the top of the league and win every available trophy. We want to win the NPFL title and reclaim the President Federation Cup," Titiloye said.

He assured supporters that the club had identified and addressed the shortcomings from last season, stressing that the team would approach every fixture with the determination required to achieve its objectives.

"We are treating every game like a World Cup final. The mistakes of last season will not be repeated," he added.

Titiloye also expressed appreciation to the Kwara State Government, led by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and the Kwara State Sports Commission for their continued support and commitment to the growth of the club.

The new recruits include goalkeepers Stanley Victor (Kada City) and Ouattara Khalifa (Alemas FC, Mali); defenders Ferinyaro Ali (Kada Warriors), Peace Dewan (Bendel Insurance), Ada Adamu (Barau FC), and Uche Daniel (Yobe Desert FC).

Others are Anthony Nnamdi (Bendel Insurance), Emmanuel Ekpeyong (ASEAMI FC), Obed Ponkap (Barau FC), Ajibola Ayomade (Ikorodu City), Solomon Shoola (Abraysports), Benjamin Jack (Nasarawa United), Sanni Mohammed (ACAS FA, Lagos), Thomas Omokhafe (Kada Warriors), Jerry Alex (Rangers International), and Gideon Chukwu Stephen (Doma United).

The club retained Ayeleso Suraj, Mohammed Alao, Alege Muhammed, Kolawole Sheriff, Adeshina Issa Gata, Jeremiah Gabriel Abutu, Okoloko Otega, Ezenabo Somtochwuku, Toyeeb Gidado, Abdulsalam Abdulsalam, Ozoh Philip, Hannafi Babatunde, Nurudeen Badmus, Afeez Bankole, Nyebe Moses, and Issa Magaji for the new season.

With a refreshed squad and ambitious objectives, Kwara United will be hoping to challenge strongly for domestic honours during the 2026/27 campaign. The club believes its blend of experienced and newly recruited players will provide the depth needed to compete successfully throughout the season.
